The art of Norman Rockwell and Andrew Wyeth has always been beloved by the public but often attacked by the critics. Their styles and subject matter were never even close to what was considered avant-garde art. But they tapped into middle class values and ideals and that added to their popularity. Lecturer Fred Dixon and his wife Martha are Chadds Ford residents and art collectors. They both served as docents at the Barnes Foundation for 10 years.
