8/1  Trustee Collis Townsend agrees to lead the Capital Campaign effort for the Board of Trustees. Collis’s vast experience with the Delaware Community Foundation and then Merrill Lynch Charitable funds makes him the ideal person to guide the campaign.

8/5   The Kennett Library was notified by the Governors office that we had been selected for a $1,000,000 RACP grant to help build the new Library.  The Library has 6 months to complete the 2nd step of the funding request. 

8/20  The Board of Trustees voted to appoint Will Majarian as a Trustee at Large.  Will lives in the Borough and will be focused on helping the Kennett Library through the building approval process.

8/20  The Board of Trustees voted to complete the purchase of the “Weinstein” lot and to send the required 60 day notification to the Borough of Kennett Square to request a settlement date.

8/20  The Board of Trustees voted to begin the demolition of the structure at 124 S. Willow Street as soon as possible.  The house is empty and uninhabitable and needs to be removed to make way for the new Library.

8/20 The 2018 annual campaign total has reached $108,565. The campaign runs through October 30th, 2019. The 2017 total was $96,652. The annual appeal supports the operations of the library and being able to show strong donor support is important to potential capital campaign donors.

8/21 The Kennett Library notified the Borough of Kennett Square in writing of their intent to complete the acquisition of the “Weinstein” lot on October 21st.
