Tutors

Adult Literacy Program staff is so very grateful to our many volunteer tutors for their invaluable help! We count over 100 tutors yearly, and their work with our students enhances classroom instruction. Tutors meet with their student between one and three hours weekly, and the great majority help students to practice English skills: speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing. Some tutors prepare students for American citizenship and others prepare them to take the four tests for the General Equivalency Diploma. Our tutor volunteers come from all walks of life, from all ages, and from our very own community. A special “thank you” goes to our friends at Kendal and Crosslands Communities, as their partnership with ALP has given us many tutors.

Truly, the thousands of hours that our tutors generously donate every year are making a difference in the lives of so many adult students and their families. The ALP staff, teachers, and students are fortunate to have so many selfless community members giving of their time, talent, and patience.

We are thankful!
